Indio, California | Earth & Light
Cocooned & Soothing. Vibrant & Rejuvenating.
Step through the door at Terra Luz and the pace slows immediately. It's the terracotta courtyard, the Kahlo blue pool catching the afternoon light, the sound of nothing but the desert and maybe whoever's in the kitchen. This is what Old Havana warmth looks like transplanted to the Coachella Valley.
Cuban roasted coffee beans on the counter. Mexican dominos on the shelf. Patterned robes in the closets. The Kitchen Terrace has a pass-through window that slides open toward the pool, so morning coffee becomes poolside conversation without anyone having to move very far. The aesthetic is collected, not staged. Wabi-sabi warmth, terracotta walls, woven rattan.
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, sleeps up to six. The primary suite faces the pool. The kitchen is stocked properly: real cooking territory. Outdoor dining under the desert sky. Pool is heated.
We built Terra Luz around a single idea: most vacation rentals look the same, and none of them feel like anywhere specific. Terra Luz was designed by Dawn Asher, at The Olive Jar, to feel like a place with a history, charm, and nostalgia. Old Havana character through a desert lens. If you care about where you stay, this is for you.
The pool catches the light between 4 and 6pm in a way that makes you stop whatever you're doing. The accents of Kahlo blue hold it differently than any other color would, plus you can't forget about the West Elm patio furniture and Business & Pleasure throw pillows. Imagine using the pass-through window to hand someone a coffee without leaving the kitchen. The whole house was designed around moments, not features.
Terra Luz sits inside Indian Palms Country Club, a gated neighborhood in Indio with pay to play golf, tennis courts, and many community pools on-site. The Empire Polo Club is walking distance. During Coachella and Stagecoach, that's the difference between watching your neighbors leave for a shuttle and just... leaving. Palm Springs is thirty minutes west, Joshua Tree forty-five minutes northeast, and downtown Indio is five minutes in any direction.
This house is ideal for friend groups and couples who want a private pool and a space that feels like somewhere specific, families who need a real kitchen and a real outdoor room, and design-conscious travelers who've learned to distrust generic rentals. Festival-goers book it because walking distance to the polo grounds on your own timeline beats any shuttle schedule or uber drop off. The pool looks exactly as saturated as it does in photos.
