Palm Springs, California
Fresh, nostalgic, effortlessly Palm Springs.
The Sundune runs on a coastal-desert frequency: early light through linen curtains, copper fixtures catching the morning, cool aloe on the walls. A space that doesn't try too hard and doesn't need to. Two bedrooms, a proper kitchen, and downtown Palm Springs is ten minutes away when you want it, easy to ignore when you don't.
The design pulls from surf and sand without being a caricature of either. Real retro personality. Sun-bleached textures, natural materials, the kind of place that makes you want to stay in. Three king beds means three couples can share without anyone drawing straws over the pull-out. That almost never happens in Palm Springs.
I wanted a Palm Springs property with a real downtown address, actual king beds (not one king and two queens), and design that felt specific rather than generic. The Sundune is what came out of that. Coastal-desert without the clichés, walkable to everything, the kind of place you extend your stay because leaving feels wrong.
Three couples can stay here without anyone negotiating over sleeping arrangements. That's rarer than it sounds in Palm Springs. Most places give you one king and two queens, which means somebody's always drawing the short straw. The Sundune gives everyone a proper bed and a door that closes. The mornings are the best part: early light through the linen curtains, coffee made, nothing that needs deciding yet.
Downtown Palm Springs is genuinely walkable from here: Palm Canyon Drive, coffee shops, galleries, restaurants, and vintage stores are all on foot. Palm Springs Surf Club is about five minutes out, Indian Wells Tennis Garden twenty-five, Coachella and Stagecoach at Empire Polo Club thirty, and Joshua Tree forty-five minutes when you're ready to leave civilization behind.
Three couples who want their own king beds and a downtown address that earns the trip, groups who notice design and want a place with real personality, and anyone who's searched long enough for a walkable Palm Springs rental to know how hard they are to find. The Sundune is what you were looking for.
Open living area with camel sofa, marble coffee table, and the orange front door that hits differently on arrival.
Round walnut table, olive green chairs, wicker pendant. Seats six comfortably for dinner.
Gallery wall of curated surf and coastal photography. The design tells a story without narrating it.
Pink herringbone tile backsplash, gold fixtures, white cabinets. Fully stocked for actual cooking, not just coffee.
Counter detail: the Hot Date cookbook, fresh tile, and the rattan pendant that pulls the coastal palette together.
Gold spring faucet against pink herringbone tile. The details are specific, not just aesthetic.
Two king beds with a vintage wood longboard mounted between them. California surf club energy, calmed by coastal texture and driftwood details.
The lounge corner and adjustable standing desk. View from the desk: palm-lined mountain horizon and the pool below. Closing out the work day here feels earned.
Crisp white bedding in sun-faded accent tones. Palm frond wallpaper that earns its place.
Tropical palm leaf wallpaper, arched gold mirror, and gold fixtures. A bathroom that makes you want to linger.
Vanity detail. Gold hardware, warm light, natural materials throughout.
Shower with gold fixtures. Same attention to detail as every other room.
The most beachy room in the house. Heavy-on-the-pink accent wall, beach photography, and natural light that pours in all morning.
King bed with striped linen bedding in sun-faded pops of color. Soul-energizing, as Dawn put it.
Sunny beach imagery and natural light. This room books the couples who want to wake up and already feel like they're at the coast.
Gold vanity fixtures against emerald green herringbone tile. Every bathroom in this house has a point of view.
Walk-in shower tile detail. Emerald herringbone, all the way up.
Vanity detail with gold faucet. The tile choice here was deliberate — a moment of unexpected richness.
The community pool at Palm Canyon Villas. Guests consistently note it feels private. One person's "community pool" is another's personal oasis.
Private terrace with an L-shape wooden bar top, printed cement tile, and a kitchen pass-through window. Designed for the long afternoon.
The terrace at dusk. String lights, good company, and a desert sky that puts on a show every single night.
Consistently 5-star on Airbnb.
"The condo had a cozy and welcoming vibe. Eann's kitchen was very well stocked and the space was immaculate. I've chosen many Airbnbs. This one is definitely in the top 3."
